My opinion on how much of an impact climate change has on our planet, and some of the steps we can take to prevent it from further spiraling out of hand
My opinion on climate change is that I think its a bigger issue than we think. The slow warming of the planet is an incredibly dangerours thing, as then slowly and slowly, the ice and glaciers on this plant will start to melt and immense flooding will start to happen. I am glad that in today's culture we are shining a bigger light on the issue, but I think now is the time to act and further prevent climate change from getting out oh hand. If this past years hurricanes and storms is any indication of what out future is heading towards, we need to act now and we need to act fast. Below is a list of some of the steps that you can do easily at home to prevent climate change, as well as some bigger picture steps that overall as a county and as a population of mother earth, are key to helping us to have a brighter and greener future.
1.Get involved Take a few minutes to contact your political representatives and the media to tell them you want immediate action on climate change. Remind them that reducing greenhouse gas emissions will also build healthier communities, spur economic innovation and create new jobs. And next time you’re at the polls, vote for politicians who support effective climate policies. 2.Be energy efficient You already switch off lights — what’s next? Change light bulbs to compact fluorescents or LEDs. Unplug computers, TVs and other electronics when not in use. Wash clothes in cold or warm (not hot) water. Dryers are energy hogs, so hang dry when you can. Install a programmable thermostat. Look for the Energy Star® label when buying new appliances. And a home energy audit is cheaper than you think — book one today to find even more ways to save energy.
3.Choose renewable power Ask your utility to switch your account to clean, renewable power, such as from wind farms. If it doesn’t offer this option yet, ask it to.
4.Eat wisely Buy organic and locally grown foods. Avoid processed items. Grow some of your own food. And eat low on the food chain — at least one meat-free meal a day — since 18 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions come from meat and dairy production. Food writer Michael Pollan sums it up best: “Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.”
5.Trim your waste Garbage buried in landfills produces methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Keep stuff out of landfills by composting kitchen scraps and garden trimmings, and recycling paper, plastic, metal and glass. Let store managers and manufacturers know you want products with minimal or recyclable packaging.

The Bigger Picture
1.Cut down on fossil fuel burning Fossil fuels being burned releases the environments worst enemy into the air, carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide heats the air and burns a hole in the ozone layer. By cutting down on burning coal and gas, and withing to solar and wind power, we can prevent the environment from heating in the future.
2.Fuel efficient cars An electric car or a type of hybrid can also cut down on polluting the air since it does not release dangerous chemicals like a normal car.
